How it began...
With the closure of Newcastle Steelworks, a small property, interest in wine and the proximity of Kurri TAFE, we elected to study Winemaking part time from 2004. Making a barrel of wine for TAFE lead to another 3 barrels made with friends in the shed. We were finally putting our years of assiduous wine drinking to good use!
In our previous life, we worked in process, technical and management roles at Newcastle Steelworks – one a Chemical Engineer, one a Metallurgist. Our history drives us to record data and use science while developing our “craft” in winemaking. Our focus is always on process improvement, which shows in our wines.

A growing business
Over time the amount of equipment grew, the shed grew, the technical and practical knowledge grew and number of people participating grew. We evaluated our property for growing grapes, however the soils were not favourable, requiring grapes to be sourced from various vineyards.
Following on from the initial red wine making, we begun making white wines followed by sparkling wines. With the wine cellars of family and friends overflowing, we were prompted to gain our producer wholesaler license in June 2011.

Why Twin Bridges?
Why the name Twin Bridges? Our property is crossed by Buttai Creek several times necessitating 2 bridge crossings to access our house. The bridges are a link to our industrial past, made using the old No. 1 Weighbridge from Newcastle Steelworks, unbolted to form "twin bridges".
Support our winery
Our wines are available onsite from our working winery, local markets, food & wine festivals or online. Follow us on our Facebook page at Twin Bridges Wine to keep up to date with events and venues. Alternately just give us a ring!
Currently we attend Warners Bay, Pelican and Central Coast Markets, either once or twice per month and are exploring new markets. We have had the pleasure of attending the annual Glenworth Grazing Food & Wine Festival and Brisbane Waters Oyster Festival and hope to do so again.
Visitors to the winery are welcome but it's best to call ahead to ensure we are open and available.
